No. Satellite monitoring works on every farm on Earth — Sentinel-2 passes over every farm every 2-3 days, and that's enough to start. The Foggia pilot pairs satellites with in-ground sensors that Solco installs: ESP32 microcontrollers with LoRaWAN radios. These give us higher precision for soil moisture and temperature. Broader sensor rollout is on the roadmap for after we've validated the model.
Three sources at pilot stage: Sentinel-2 satellite imagery (European Space Agency, free, every 2-3 days), Open-Meteo weather forecasts, and in-ground soil sensors (ESP32 + LoRaWAN, Foggia pilot only). Sentinel-2 measures NDVI — a proven indicator of crop health used across precision agriculture.
Yes. Your data belongs to you. We encrypt everything in transit and storage using bank-level security. We never share your field information with anyone. You can export or delete your data whenever you want.
The pilot is live — farms in Foggia are already receiving daily morning reports. New farms are onboarded gradually so we can calibrate the reports properly. Pre-register and we'll be in touch when we're ready to add your area.
Cloud cover is a real limitation of optical satellite imagery — it affects every farm, everywhere. Sentinel-2 passes every 2-3 days, so we catch clear windows when they appear. We combine satellite data with weather forecasts to fill gaps — no AI magic, just standard agricultural data practice. Regions with frequent cloud cover get fewer usable images per month.
The Foggia pilot uses ESP32 + LoRaWAN hardware that Solco installs and manages. Farmer-owned or third-party sensor integration is on the roadmap for later phases. For now, the satellite data alone is the primary input.
We don't publish accuracy percentages we can't back up yet. What we can say: NDVI from Sentinel-2 is a proven, widely used indicator in precision agriculture. The value is in the daily structured report — comparing today's NDVI to historical baselines and adjacent reference fields — not a single accuracy number.
